S-chanf
Intro
The well-preserved historic village center of S-chanf radiates a pristine charm and reflects the spirit of a culture which is still strongly rooted in its Romanic origins.
Its historic village center, traditional culture and unique nature landscape surrounding it have made S-chanf a place worthy to be protected. Situated at the door to the Swiss national park, it has gained in importance for tourism in the upper Engadine in the past decades, but has nevertheless been able to perpetuate its traditional character, paired with openmindedness.
Winter
In winter, the village perks itself up and becomes the proud arrival point of the Engadine ski marathon. At the same time, it is the starting point of interesting and varied cross-country skiing routes such as the fairytale forest trail to Zernez.
Summer
In the old days it was the traders who stopped over in S-chanf. Today people looking to experience nature explore the pristine Val Trupchun – the valley with the most deer in Europe. The best way to enjoy everything nature has to offer is to do it on foot, for instance on the popular long-distance hiking tour to Livigno or the old traders’ trail to Davos.
