Lines and geometric shapes are arranged on a red background to give an impression of dynamism. A black line swings out to the right like a large pendulum and draws a circular curve. Although the individual elements are reminiscent of stars, for Kandinsky it’s about the tension and the balance of forces of the areas, colours and lines to each other. He documented his thoughts on this in “The spiritual in art” text in 1912.
