비스듬히 팽팽한(Taut at an Angle)
선과 기하학적 모양들이 붉은 배경 위에 배치되어 역동적인 분위기를 풍기는 그림이다. 마치 커다란 추처럼 검은색 선이 오른쪽으로 휘어지며 원형의 곡선을 그리고 있다. 캔버스 위에 놓은 각각의 요소들은 하늘의 별을 떠올리게 하지만, 칸딘스키(Kandinsky)는 긴장감과 공간내의 힘, 색상, 선의 균형에 관한 의미라고 한다. 그는 1912년에 쓴 “예술 정신(The spiritual in art)”에서 이에 관한 자신의 생각을 설명한 바가 있다.
