Intro

Chasselas is the French synonym for the Gutedel wine. Its origin is obscure. Some say it was first grown in Asia Minor, around Constantinople. In 1523 it was brought by the French Ambassador Vicomte d'Aulan from Asia Minor to Burgundy.

Description

The Vaudoise vineyards and the Chasselas are inseparably linked. This wine is a specialty cherished throughout the canton, which grows half of the Chasselas produced in Switzerland. The Chasselas grapes are grown on about two thirds of the vineyards, covering an area of 2,373 hectares. Rich and structured, or fine and classy, minerally or fruity – each area and each vineyard has its own Chasselas.
