Day 1
The Grand Tour Deluxe “Alpine mountain passes” route begins in Arosa. After checking into the Tschuggen Grand Hotel, take the Hörnlibahn cable car up the local mountain of Arosa. For dinner, we recommend the restaurant La Vetta in the Tschuggen Grand Hotel, where many culinary surprises await.
Day 2
From Arosa, drive over the Flüela Pass to the Engadin, taking in Davos along the way. After checking into one of the five Swiss Deluxe Hotels in St. Moritz/Pontresina, take a trip to the Muottas Muragl panoramic peak. Gourmet restaurant recommendations are also available.
Day 3
The Julier Pass, the San Bernardino Pass and the old Gotthard mountain pass road, Tremola, are today’s highlights. Check into The Chedi Andermatt, another Swiss Deluxe Hotel. Those who wish to do so can then take some time to explore Andermatt itself.
Day 4
From Andermatt, the Grand Tour Deluxe “Alpine mountain passes” route goes over the Furka Pass and to Täsch. Park up in the hotel car park by the railway station, as the final few kilometres to Zermatt (car-free since 1961) are by train. At the railway station, a shuttle service awaits to take visitors to the Swiss Deluxe Hotel of their choice: Grand Hotel Zermatterhof, Riffelalp Resort 2222m or Mont Cervin Palace.
Day 5
After breakfast at your Swiss Deluxe Hotel in Zermatt, it is well worth taking the Matterhorn Glacier Ride to the highest mountain station in Europe, the Kleinmatterhorn, at 3,883 metres above sea level. This vantage point offers the best views of the Matterhorn and its surrounding peaks in the Italian, French and Swiss Alps. A little lower down (3,089 metres above sea level) is the Gornergrat – worth visiting for the journey on the cog railway alone, but also the spectacular views of the Matterhorn and Dufourspitze.
Day 6
After five full days of mountain passes, panoramic views and overnight stays in the exclusive Swiss Deluxe Hotels, the Grand Tour Deluxe “Alpine mountain passes” route has come to an end and it is time to return home.
