Introducción
Embark on a wild railway adventure with Venitchka, an alcoholic writer who is trying to reach his beloved in the suburbs of Moscow, even as he embarks on a colossal drinking binge.
He speaks, alone or with strange travelling companions. He passes through landscapes, memories and visions – and little by little, everything begins to waver. Oscillating between biting humour and improbable philosophical digressions, the journey takes unexpected detours all the way to Petushki.
Adapted from Venedikt Erofeyev’s legendary \*Moscow–Petushki\*, a clandestine novel that circulated under the counter in the USSR, this production takes us on a delirious odyssey, oscillating between intoxication and lucidity, to decipher the Russia of yesterday and today.
Beneath the derision lies a fundamental question: what becomes of a human being when a lie is elevated to the status of official truth? Under the direction of Yan Walther, five performers embody some thirty characters, both real and imagined, and plunge us into the narrator’s drunken consciousness. A delightful, funny and desperate satire, in which the thirst for freedom battles against an imposed silence.
