유빙(The Breakup of the Ice)
클로드 모네(Claude Monet)는 자연 현상에서 영감을 받아 이 작품을 그렸다. 모네가 예전에 살던 베퇴유(Vétheuil)에서 그리 멀지 않던 센(Seine) 강에서 얼음이 떠다니는 모습을 묘사했다. 부드러운 핑크색 빛 속에서 물 위에 떠 흐르는 얼음은 무서운 느낌 보다는 후에 모네의 수많은 작품들의 소재가 되었던 수련과 더 가까워 보인다. 모네는 같은 장소에서 동일한 대상을 빛이 다를 때 찾아가 여러 번 그렸다. 그는 배를 스튜디오로 사용했기 때문에 같은 풍경을 여러 시점에서 볼 수 있었다고 한다.
