그날(The Day)
다섯 명의 여인이 각각 다른 자세로 양 팔을 머리로 들어올리며 의식의 춤으로 하루를 맞이하고 있다. 상징주의자 호들러(Hodler)의 특징은 자연의 법칙을 반영된 것으로 추정되는 대칭적인 자세를 취하고 있는 그만의 기념비적인 인물상들이다. 파리 세계 박람회에 출품하고자 그린 “그날”은 호들러가 10년 전 그린 “밤(Night)”과 짝을 이루는 작품이며, 밤 역시 베른 시립 미술관(Kunstmuseum Bern)에서 볼 수 있다.
