"Autumn Trilogy" Resonated at the Grandhotel Giessbach—Pure Romance
Overview
Intro
Simply a delight—pure romance with Tchaikovsky and Thieriot, performed by the Swiss Octet.
A treat for all the senses at the magnificent, historic Grandhotel Giessbach 1875 overlooking Lake Brienz—including overnight accommodations, a hearty breakfast, and a delicious three-course meal.
A festive program for octet brings together two colorful compositions: Tchaikovsky’s popular Nutcracker Suite, in a finely crafted arrangement by Paul Scharf, brings the magic of the ballet to life with dance-like lightness and fairy-tale miniatures. This is contrasted by Thieriot’s Octet, Op. 62, which delights with its romantic warmth, chamber-music sophistication, and lively interplay between strings and winds—a true discovery. Together, they create a varied concert evening full of charm, elegance, and sonic diversity.
