The "Whispering Things" exhibition at the Vitra Design Museum showcases the multifaceted work of designer Hella Jongerius.
The Whispering Things exhibition at the Vitra Design Museum is dedicated to the multifaceted work of internationally renowned designer Hella Jongerius. It is the first comprehensive retrospective to show works from over 30 years - from textiles and ceramics to furniture, lighting and sculptural objects.
The focus is on Jongerius' experimental approach to materials, colors and craft processes as well as her critical examination of the role of design in our society. In addition to well-known designs, the exhibition uses prototypes, studies and archive material from the Jongeriuslab to provide rare insights into her working methods and the creative process behind the objects. Instead of being loud, her designs invite us to take a closer look - they "whisper" and open up new perspectives on the meaning of things in everyday life.
