Kenny Garrett - Sounds from the Ancestors
Overview
Intro
Kenny Garrett returns to Romandy with Sounds from the Ancestors, a project honoring influential figures and showcasing his openness to diverse music styles and mentorship of young musicians.
The legendary saxophonist Kenny Garrett, former partner of Miles Davis, returns to the Romandy region after a long absence with his project Sounds from the Ancestors. This project pays tribute to the figures who have influenced the American artist since his beginnings and throughout a vast career that has impacted several generations of musicians. It also highlights how the saxophonist has remained open to various music styles such as soul, Afro-Cuban music, hip-hop, and African music. Additionally, he has been a mentor to many young musicians, integrating them into his new projects as his predecessors Art Blakey, Miles Davis, and Duke Ellington did.
