Alpine Passes Trail
Overview
Intro
A picture-book landscape at the start: the lake, mountain flowers, a lovely path. At the top of the Lovenex pass, the view opens up to the lake of Lovenex and lake Geneva beyond. This is the destination of the last stage: through an enchanting forest, the alpine passes trail ends in St. Gingolph on the border with France.
트레일 정보
Taney is nestled between the twin peaks Les Jumelles, Grammont and the Col du Taney. The picture-book mountain lake Lac de Taney glistens dreamily in dark blue-black. Meadows full of mountain flowers, elegant-looking spruces and grey rock line the for the most part easily accessible shores of the lake, which seems to have no outlet. This little paradise, which has been a protected nature reserve since the 1960s, is an amphibian spawning area of national importance.
Between the mountain peaks of Chambairy, Les Jumelles and Mont Gardy, you climb up a charming path to Montagne de Loz. You pass cattle pastures and small waterfalls while enjoying a beautiful view of the Lac de Taney. A short time later, you reach the scenic Pass de Lovenex, which is ideal for a break. It is worth taking a closer look at the landscape here: with a bit of luck, you may spot bearded vultures on the rocky summit of the Grand Miette, while a few ibex may be wandering around in the surrounding rock faces and pastures. At the same time, you can admire the wonderful view over the lake of Lovenax and lake Geneva beyond.
The hike continues to the Col de la Croix. From here, there’s a steep descent to just before Clarive. The French border is now very close. You walk through an enchanting moss-covered forest towards Mont Cornin, the last peak of the alpine passes trail. A steep zigzag path winds down through the forest, and later the forest path ends in St. Gingolph. The village was built on the scree of the Morge border stream and connects the Valais and Haute-Savoie (F). You made it! The last stage of the alpine passes trail ends right on the French border and on the southern shore of lake Geneva.
