Inleiding
The cross-country skiing trail is located in the South of St. Gallen and is with its start at 828 metres the highest of all five trails of the city.
Beschrijving
The Unterer Brand trail is located directly in front of St. Gallen and is reachable by foot from the city. And still: one feels like entering another world, in this soft hilly landscape around the St. Gallen observatory, far away from urban hustle.
The circular trail is perfectly suitable for beginners, as the trail is leading relatively flat over the broad meadows and thus has no great incline. Besides the main trail there is also a shortened variant (780 metres), which is lighted at night. Thus also advanced cross-country skiers find the desired variety and can also drive their laps until late at night.
For a short break or the deserved relaxation after the training the restaurant Unterer Brand offers substantial dishes directly at the start and end point of the trail.
De sleutel voor een prettige wandeltocht is onder andere een zorgvuldige planning. Win op voorhand inlichtingen in bij de plaatselijke informatiedienst over de toestand van het traject en de weersomstandigheden. Afhankelijk van het seizoen en de weersomstandigheden kan de route gesloten of onderbroken zijn.
