De rondwandeling start bij Stein am Rhein en loopt eerst over de linker Rijnover via voormalig provoosthuis Wagenhausen naar de uit 1875 stammende spoorbrug van Heimishofen. Op de tegenoverliggende oever gaat het terug naar het nostalgisch ogende, middeleeuwse stadje Stein am Rhein.

De Rijnwaterval staat centraal in deze rondwandeling. Startpunt is kasteel Laufen, majesteitelijk gelegen boven de Rijnwaterval en onverstoord door de onstuimige waterkracht die aan de voet van het kasteel raast. We dalen af naar het water om via de brug naar de overliggende oever te gaan en klimmen tegenover het kasteel omhoog.
