A reserva natural Aletschwald fica bem perto da maior geleira dos Alpes, e está sob a proteção da Pro Natura desde 1933. O Centro de Proteção Ambiental da reserva está localizado na Villa Cassel, na montanha "Riederfurka" (ou Riederalp).
