Driven by black-painted wheels, the Schwimmwasserplastik in the park outside Museum Tinguely squirts water in all directions out of five different nozzles on moving hose ends, a mechanical squirting spectacle that may even catch the beholder, depending on wind direction. Tinguely wanted the construction to extravagantly pour out the water in all directions, like a firework. The work employs the water jets to draw circles and snaky lines in the air. Originally, the work was even designed to float in a pond, but, because it capsized, it had to be fixed on a pedestal.
