Eine Entdeckungsreise durch die Basler Esskultur
Die Ausstellung lädt zu einer Reise durch Basels Esskultur ein. Sie beginnt mit dem Kochbuch Basler Kochschule von 1877 und führt weiter durch die kulinarische Vielfalt der Stadt – serviert in thematischen Häppchen aus Vergangenheit und Gegenwart.
Erzählt wird die Geschichte typischer Basler Spezialitäten, der Wandel von Einkaufsmöglichkeiten, aber auch die einschneidende Lebensmittelrationierung in Kriegszeiten. Neben bürgerlichen Ess- und Tischsitten sowie überlieferten Rezepten aus dem alten Basel beleuchtet die Ausstellung auch Basler Erfindungen der Lebensmittelindustrie und Facetten der heutigen Gastro- und Food-Szene.
Abwechslungsreiche Begleitveranstaltungen runden die kulinarische Entdeckungsreise ab.
