簡介
The ‚sounding museum‘ in Seewen SO is a Swiss federal museum and houses an internationally significant collection of music automatons. The visitors will learn all about the history of automatic music while moving between high-precision mechanics and the magic of nostalgic melodies.
A guided tour of the three thematic halls takes the visitors into the fascinating world of music automatons dating back as far as two centuries ago. A wide range of luxuriously equipped, Swiss-made music boxes, orchestrions to the music of which our grandparents or even great-grandparents used to dance, delicate figurine automatons, barrel organs, automatic pianos, fairground and dance organs: they all delight their audience with melodies which were recorded live.
The mighty automated Britannic organ and its fascinating history – it was built over 100 years ago for the sister ship of the Titanic – are presented during a 20 minute guided tour.
The museum’s program is complemented by varying special exhibitions. One of them is titled „Stella, Gloria and Edelweiss – metal disk music from Switzerland“ and shows disk music boxes which were developed and manufactured in Switzerland from 1890 onwards.

Tuesday to Sunday, 11 to 18 h (for groups upon arrangement)

Britannic organ (20 min.): 13.40 and 15.40 h
Special exhibition Stella, Gloria and Edelweiss: Tuesday+Thursday 15.05 h (20 Min.)
