The easy snowshoe tour on Pilatus leads from Fräkmüntegg over open meadows of Alp Bonern and back through the «Rehlöcher» forest. During the hike you cross the border from Lucerne to Nidwalden and enjoy a beautiful view of Lucerne, Lake Lucerne, the midland and the northern foothills of the Alps.
Description
From the Kriens valley station, snowshoe hikers can reach the Fräkmüntegg station (1416 m) within 30 minutes by panorama gondola. From the middle station on the way to Lucerne’s landmark mountain, the trail first climbs slightly.
Afterwards it goes through a light forest in the direction of Lauelenegg and then downhill for about 1.3 kilometres via a clearing along the edge of the forest. About halfway you pass the hut of Alp Boneren. At the end of the clearing, one branches off sharply to the northeast and reaches a road that leads via Rehlöcher and Mülimäs back towards the panorama gondola. Cross the gondola route and climb back up to Fräkmüntegg on the right. Here you walk along the sledge slope.
The terrain is generally flat or slightly steep (< 25°). There are no steep slopes in the immediate vicinity and there is no danger of slipping or falling: the tour with a beautiful panoramic view of Lucerne, Lake Lucerne, the Midland and the northern foothills of the Alps is therefore perfect for a relaxed excursion with the whole family.
