A varied route awaits you! The journey by boat to Weggis and then by aerial cableway to Dorfplatz (village square) Rigi-Kaltbad is a special experience in itself. But the real highlight is the section to Chänzeli.
Description
From Lucerne train station you first take the ship to Weggis or Vitznau, and experience a taste of the lake air. In Weggis you reach the bottom station of the aerial cableway after a 15-minute walk. The cableway takes you to the modern and spacious Rigi-Kaltbad Dorfplatz (village square). From Vitznau, the cog railway takes you to Rigi Kaltbad.
The unobstructed trail starts here in the direction of Chänzeli. You soon reach the attractive Felskapelle chapel – a worthwhile detour! Several colourful characters, called “Rigi-Wildmannli”, raise a smile from hikers along the way.
The highlight of the hike is the Chänzeli viewing platform, which offers a remarkable view across the branches of Lake Lucerne and the Alpine chain. The way back is on the same route. Crossing green meadows and sparse forests you reach the village square of Kaltbad, where Mineralbad & Spa Rigi Kaltbad invites you to relax.
