Segantini Museum

簡介
The Segantini Museum is perched on a small hill at the entrance to the village of St. Moritz. Architecturally, the building recalls a mausoleum - and inside the works of the Italian artist Giovanni Segantini are celebrated. Segantini in fact spent the last years of his life on the neighboring Schafberg and near Bergell.
"Nature - Life - Death" - the famous alpine triptych of Giovanni Segantini is the focus of the exhibition in the Segantini Museum in St. Moritz. Those viewing "in natura" for the first time are not only surprised at the famous image, instead utterly amazed at the realistic staging of light and the power of color.
Originally from Italy, Segantini spent the last years of his life on the Schafberg in Engadin and near Bergell. His works from this period are strongly inspired by everyday life in this high alpine landscape and the special lighting conditions. On his sudden death at 42, the entire region mourned "their" artist - and nine years after his death went on to construct a kind of accessible memorial; the striking museum building you view today by the architect Nicolaus Hartmann.
