簡介
Opened in 1841, the Vaud Museum of Fine Arts in Lausanne is one of the oldest museums in Switzerland exclusively dedicated to art. The museum presents several temporary exhibitions each year from its collection of 10,000 works.
Ducros, Gleyre, Steinlen, Vallotton, Soutter: these are some of the Vaudois painters for which the Vaud Museum of Fine Arts (MCBA) is known, both nationally and internationally. Their works form a large part of the museum’s collection, currently comprising some 10,000 paintings.
The MCBA organises several temporary exhibitions every year, each one accompanied by a programme of cultural activities including events, guided tours and workshops for adults and children. Admission is free on the first Saturday of the month.
Since autumn 2019, the MCBA has been located in Lausanne's new “Plateforme 10” art district, which can be found right by Lausanne's train station. The building was designed by the firm run by Barcelona-based architects Fabrizio Barozzi and Alberto Veiga. The brick building's monolithic form is a reminder of the location's history as a locomotive hall and in this way preserves its industrial past.
