Across lush meadows, between mighty fir trees to «Energy Mountain» and the wind farm with its rotating propellers, visible from afar, and solar panels: Switzerland’s largest plant for renewable energy! Then a steep descent to St-Imier.

The first part of this stage is hard going, but worth the effort, as it takes you to the highlight of the tour: the imposing Creux du Van rock arena – Switzerland’s version of the Grand Canyon. Via rolling pastureland, the home of music boxes and music automatons awaits.

A climb to the high plateau of the Franches Montagnes and peaceful countryside. Dark forests and scattered farmsteads surrounded by horses, cattle and sheep. In between, villages with mustard-coloured houses. Saigneléger is the regional centre.

In the Creux du Van across Lake Neuchâtel, nature presents itself as a giant natural amphitheatre. Admittedly, though, the prime seats in the 160 metre high wall seem to have been reserved for the ibex!

From the low-lying Schüss Valley to the crest of the Bernese Jura. An almost constant, yet comfortable climb to scale the Chasseral, a mountain which you will already have seen in the distance. Sensational panoramic views with the lakes on the Swiss Plateau are a delight for the eyes.

It's hard to imagine just how much industry (glazier’s workshops, sawmills, mills) there was on the Doubs 200 years ago. Today only a few signs of this intense industrial activity remain, as in Le Theusseret shortly before Goumois, the finish of the second stage.

Val de Ruz is proving ideal hiking country. Striking, the numerous village fountains and massive church towers. Engollon has the only murals in Canton Neuchâtel which date back to before the Reformation. Descent to Neuchâtel, with superb views.

15 kilometres of meditative hiking pleasure and one of Switzerland's most beautiful "water trails" run between Soubey and St-Ursanne.

Enjoy the magnificent panoramic view from the mountain chain with the Tête de Ran and Mont Racine peaks. From the Rocher des Tablettes, you can take in the breathtaking view down to Lake Neuchâtel before you begin the steep descent to Noiraigue.

Picturesque and rugged ravines that could almost be called fiords open up after Les Brenets. Polished by natural forces, the rock faces have the shape of a human face and the head of a legendary monster. The trail leads to the Saut du Doubs, a spectacular, 27m high waterfall.

The route in and around the charming town of St-Ursanne in Canton Jura is a treat for history lovers. The captivating little town on the River Doubs has changed little over the centuries. It is impressive and well worth a visit.

The Jura Crest Trail links Zurich and Geneva in a sweeping arc. Running through two linguistic regions, the long trail boasts extensive views and the discovery of a varied landscape. A respite from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and mass tourism.

Owing to the lack of suitable trails, Lac de Neuchâtel is crossed by boat. Imposing Mont Vully is visible from afar. Short but steep climb. Wonderful panorama. Through the fertile shoreline forest of Le Chablais to the medieval town of Murten.

Hike from Les Rochats up to the Chasseron. On foot: Beyond Lake Neuchâtel and, further south, Lake Geneva, more than 250 kilometres of high mountain peaks emerge on the horizon. After passing through vast expanses of grazing land, you reach the home of music boxes and music automatons.

History and culture join together in Bellelay, the gateway to the Freiberge region. Horse breeding, Baroque church and cradle of Tête de Moine AOP, the spicy cheese shaped into rosettes. The route continues between drystone walling and old water cisterns to Tramelan.

The walk from Delémont is a tour through the Canton Jura and its attractive scenery, from the heights of the Delémont Valley via the Ajoie region and the Doubs Valley, through the Combe Tabeillon nature preserve and to the Freiberge Mountain plateau with lovely, historic towns such as Porrentruy and St-Ursanne.

The highlight of this hike is the nature reserve of Etang de la Gruère, where a path takes you around Switzerland’s largest moor lake, and the acidic boggy soil provides the ideal conditions for unique flora and fauna to thrive.

Discover the beauties of the Jura through a fantastic crest trail offering exceptional panoramic views from the Mont-Blanc to the Säntis and from the Chasseron to the Vosges. The hike ends with a path edged with tall wooden statues as well as numerous benches and a well fitted out picnic place.

The long-distance Trans Swiss Trail from Porrentruy to Mendrisio is one of the last great adventures in highly-developed Switzerland. A variety of landscapes, cultures and places of interest await along the 32 stages of the 488-km trail.

From Moutier the ViaJura negotiates the Schlucht von Court (gorge) and reaches the village of Champoz via the mountain of Moron, on which stands a tower designed by Mario Botta. The route then follows the ridge before leading down to Sornetan.

This hike combines the legendary Val de Travers with the sun-drenched plateau of Ste-Croix. It offers one highlight after another, from the village of Môtiers and the bizarre gorge of Poëta Raisse through to the spectacular viewpoint on the Chasseron.

From the watch town to the granary of the Neuchatel region. Here the trail leads through a gorge, typical of the limestone Jura chain. Descent through a shady forest into the Val de Ruz. The valley is dominated by the Chasseral with its large antenna.

The Areuse stream roars through the gorge. This sometimes bold trail affords incredible views deep into this spectacle of nature. Even on hot summer days, a cool breeze blows.

During a 2-day hike, participants will discover how the inhabitants of the Jura Mountains have tamed nature – a little bit later than elsewhere.

Fishermen are often met along the path. The Doubs has a unique fish population including the authentic Doubs trout with black stripes, barbel, grayling, pike and of course the elusive apron, also known as Roi du Doubs.

The Doubs is a moody, fascinating river. The hike along the south bank from St-Ursanne to La Charbonnière is almost always along nature trails, close to the shimmering, blue-green waters. Many dragonflies and birds inhabit the river banks.
