The Rhine Falls are the centrepiece of this circular hike. It starts from Laufen Castle, towering majestically above the Rhine Falls – unperturbed by the immense force of the waters that rage below it. We descend straight to the water's edge, cross the bridge to the other side and start climbing again opposite the castle.

A tough climb to Stöcklichrüz and a superb high-level hike around the northern end of Sihlsee lake to Einsiedeln. The St. Meinrads Chapel on Etzelpass and the house where Paracelsus was born are popular resting places, not just for pilgrims.

The high Biber valley, the plain between Rothenthurm and Biberbrugg, ranks as an especially beautiful moorland area of national importance. The well-signed moorland path passes through this unique protected moorland (a model for moor conservation in Switzerland).

Starting at the Horgen fountain, the way leads alongside the lake, with numerous possibilities to take a break, a swim or light a fire underway. Highlight on this leg is the Halbinsel Au with its castle, park and natural pond– a real sight to see!

South of Rheinau kilometre-long forest path along slopes above the Rhine to Ellikon. Through woodlands beside the River Thur and cultivated landscape of Flaacherfeld to Flaach. Extensive panorama from Buchberg church. Through sunny vineyards to Eglisau.

Between Schwaderloch and Rheinsulz, this widely varied section culminates on the forested northern slope of the Tafeljura mountains, with splendid views over the Rheintal valley. Particularly attractive: Koblenz with its four large historic bridges.

This route starts in Pfäffikon SZ and leads along the bank of the Seedamm (lake dam) to Rapperswil SG. The section is marked by wonderful far-reaching views over an endless plain with flower-filled fields and meadows as well as the glistening Zurichsee (lake). The ultimate holiday feeling!

Numerous places to take a break or swim are found along the lake shores – and the unspoilt Lachner Horn landscapes and Schmerikon estuary cordially invite you to rest a while. Attractive contrast on this leg is the crossing of the woods by Buchberg.

A delightful hike through landscapes such as those once described by Gottfried Keller. Several climbs offer best views over the lake and surroundings – with the Glarner and Innerschweiz Alps providing a spectacular highlight of their own.

Gravel banks, footbridges and countless picnic areas line the River Töss between Turbenthal and Sennhof. The hike’s destination is Schloss Kyburg, which towers majestically over the Töss Valley.

The Üetliberg railway (with regular scheduled trains) takes summiteers to Zurich's "own" mountain, 871 meters high. The high-altitude hike following the train trip is also suitable for families; after visiting the restaurant terrace on the Felsenegg, the gondola lift is waiting to take walkers down to Adliswil, where the S-Bahn (train) runs back towards Zurich.

A delightfully scenic stage in the heart of the Zug region. Over upland moors, past countless cherry trees (Zuger kirsch cake!), the vantage point at the Brunegg Alp restaurant and the pretty St. Verena Chapel, to the town of Zug.

Walking along the southern Pfannenstiel foothills, it’s hard to believe you find yourself amidst one of Switzerland’s most populated agglomerations. Woods, pastures and vineyards adorn the way, followed by a descent over the Meilemer Tobel.

The lakeside path leads along some of the loveliest Ostschweiz shoreline – and plenty of waterfowl can be observed at the Wurmsbach and Busskirch nature reserves. Several public bathing and sport areas are also discovered underway.
