Hematology
Blood is what gives us the energy we need to live.
Haematology specialises in the diseases and conditions affecting the blood such as anaemia or leukaemia (acute and chronic), as well as the organs responsible for making blood, and in particular the bone marrow. Enlargements and tumours of the lymph nodes (e.g. Hodgkin’s disease) and clotting disorders are also treated. These disorders in particular involve genetic conditions such as haemophilia and the tendency the form blood clots (thrombophilia).
