All cycling routes in Vaud

Scenic crests, babbling streams and shady woodland sweeten the ups and downs on this country route. In the distance medieval Romon stands proud on a hill and Bulle beckons with culinary delights.

A countryside with streams flowing in deep clefts taxes the calves, castles, medieval towns and the silver sea of Lac Léman lighten the spirits, the juice of sun-kissed grapes and Malakoff cheese specialities pamper the palate.

In 1997, the entire mountain biking world talked about Château-d’Oex, where the world championships were held. The region has been quiet since then, but the beautiful routes for anybody are still there.

The first stage of the Heart Route leads from Lausanne to Romont. The 50-kilometer route is the perfect introduction to E-Bike adventures.

The stage runs through pine woods to Col de Marchairuz, the views over Lac Léman the reward for your uphill effort. A final descent leads along the Jura ridge to the vineyards of the Lac Léman region.

As a mountain range, the Swiss Jura tends to play second fiddle to the Alps in terms of cycling appeal. Yet this region between Geneva and Basel is a cyclists’ paradise: numerous relatively quiet roads follow the gentle topography amid pristine landscapes.

A diverse and scenic stretch along Lac des Chavonnes, a deep-blue mountain lake. The highest part of the route with a spectacular panorama is reached high above Villars, before the racy descent begins into the Rhone Valley.

From lively Lausanne up into the tranquil Jorat hills, continuing into the glacier-grooved valley of the Broye. Past dreamy Moudon, rejuvenated by a refreshing sip of Henniez mineral water at the peaceful Roman Abbey of Payerne.

Below the rocky Auguilles de Baumles, the route crosses a lonely region with many bunkers from World War II. The last ascent leads into the Vallée de Joux, a true gem with a wealth of flora and two lakes!

In the high valley: the clear, quiet charm of Lac de Joux, high up hundreds of anthills and rows of small, skilfully-laid stone walls in the serene Parc jurassien vaudois . An easy freewheel down to the cheerful atmosphere of Lac Léman.

From Lac Léman uphill through the granary of Waadtland to Yverdon, then along Lac de Neuchâtel, past Grandson Castle up into Val de Ruz and on over the Vue des Alpes to La Chaux-de-Fonds with its world-famous watch museum.

Bucolic itinerary in the countryside during which you will appreciate the peace and quiet of the Culan cirque and of the hamlet Taveyanne. You will also discover the Frience Alpine meadows with the Argentine massif and the Muveran mountain chain as a backdrop.

The Herzroute (Heart Route) leads through the most beautiful areas in Switzerland's Alpine foothills. The secluded trails, far from traffic noise and all hustle and bustle, are particularly appealing for exploring by electric bike. The route offers heart-warming encounters with the countryside and people.

Atypical bike itinerary on which you will behold the Lavaux terraced vineyards and the more hilly countryside just inland. Interesting discovery of small roads leading through fields and forests.

The isolated terrace above Lac Léman boasts an impressive panorama with the mighty snow-covered Mont Blanc. The natural idyll of Marais de la Versoix lies hidden, before you suddenly arrive in cosmopolitan Genève.

This medium-loop circuit leaves from St-Cergue and leads through woods and pastures to La Givrine through the Regional Nature Park of the Vaudois Jura. The return trip takes bikers through beautiful little valleys back to the village.

This loop starts in Aigle and goes in search of the classic passes of the Vaud Alps. The little town of Aigle in Switzerland’s Chablais region is home to the UCI, the International Cycling Union.

Above the terraced La Côte vineyards, below on the lake the market towns of Morges, Rolle, Nyon. Open shore becomes rarer, villas and yachts larger, soon cosmopolitan Geneva greets us with boulevards and its 140m-high water fountain «Jet d'eau».

From Lausanne up to Grand Mont. The hilly landscape is characterized by woodland and open fields, the villages by farmsteads with impressive archways. Along the Canal Oriental on to Yverdon-les-Bains, a lakeside spa town with a castle.

Past mighty Grandson Castle, alongside Lac de Neuchâtel’s inviting beaches and up to the wide valley basin of the Val de Ruz.

This itinerary along the Orbe plain and the Jura foothills offers the opportunity to have a break in a bucolic setting between vintners' villages and charming hamlets with the extraordinary panorama of the Alps in the background.

From Yverdon through the Plaine de l’Orbe. Roman mosaics on the slopes, the Romanesque abbey church in Romainmôtier is serene. Your calf muscles are on fire but lovely deciduous forests soothe your soul.

At the start, wide cornfields followed by vegetable fields. The easy-going French-speaking lifestyle followed by Bernese pragmatism. Numerous historical towns along the route, refreshing waters of the Broye, Murtensee, Aare and Emme.

This trail takes you along the heights of the Montreux Riviera, through its forests, clearings, most renowned passes and panoramic routes. It offers a beautiful outlook over the Montreux Riviera and is a thrill for experienced mountain bikers.

Starting at Lutry railway station, this easy loop (310m difference in altitude over 30km) follows the Route de la Corniche. This classic route is popular with the region’s many cyclists.

The Lakes Route takes you on a trip right across picture-postcard Switzerland. From Lac Léman to the Bodensee, passing 10 larger and smaller lakes and offering stunning views over water in the Alps and Alpine foothills.

The Mont Tendre Bike route is the ideal way to discover everything the Vallée de Joux has to offer. This circular route takes you through the foothills of Mont Tendre, the highest peak of the Swiss Jura, (1,680m), and returns along the south bank of Lac de Joux.

An ideal starting point for a mountain bike outing, Col des Mosses and its surrounding landscape offer tracks that are accessible to all levels. For well trained legs but also for amateurs, Col des Mosses offers a network of varied MB circuits.

From Payerne following the slow-flowing Broye, through wide rolling countryside, the granary of western Switzerland. To the west of the Venoge, carefully-tended vineyards lace a pleasing pattern in the landscape, a refreshing white wine thrives in La Côte.
