The Blue Blouse
Henri Matisse always strove for harmony in his pictures. In our picture he achieves this through the balanced arrangement of the primary colours blue, yellow and red, complemented by black and white. Straight lines and rhythmically curved shapes can also be found. Henri Matisse used his assistance, the young Russian immigrant Lydia Delectorskaya, as the model for the young woman in a blue blouse.
