With humor and sensitivity, *Mauvaise herbe* paints a portrait of a small world under the open sky—a place where the earth brings people together as much as it divides them, and where everyone, in their own way, tries to relearn how to build a community. This show plunges us into the heart of a thriving community garden. It is here that people from different backgrounds and walks of life come together, united by a shared desire to cultivate the land and share a space of nature in the city. Among those who frequent this garden, a couple of newcomers are seeking to rediscover a shared sense of purpose through a simple, tangible, almost redemptive activity. And then there’s the old man, a fixture of the place, who has been alone for a long time and can’t help but offer advice and commentary. He comes mainly to stay relevant, to remain connected to others. As the seasons pass, the characters learn to weed not only their plots but also their lives. Different conceptions of ecology, mutual aid, and community life clash. Everyday conflicts coexist with acts of solidarity, revealing the contradictions, fragilities, and beauty of human connections.
