Baroque sonatas - and a little more With recorder and viola da gamba as the classical instrumental ensemble of the Baroque period, the two musicians from Arosa and Langwies present themselves. Years ago, they discovered each other in a summer course organized by Arosa Kultur. This led to a friendship fueled by a passion for making music together. Even without a keyboard continuo, numerous sonatas can be convincingly interpreted for two. The recorder and the viola da gamba stand side by side on equal terms, responding immediately to each other and allowing the subtle tonal nuances of both instruments to come to the forefront. Whether with works by Handel, Loeillet, Marcello, Telemann, or others, splendid music for recorder and viola has been composed all over Europe. But these instruments in their various sizes were used even earlier - or later! Thus, small pieces from the Renaissance - or those in a folk style - are interspersed in the program: Baroque - and a little more!
