Overview
Intro
The first organ concert in the new Midi Musique series will take place on Saturday 9 May 2026 at 12 noon at the German Church in Murten. Tatjana Fuog will be performing on the organ.
The concert programme ‘Choral, Dialogue and Vision’ brings together three significant works of Romantic and late-Romantic organ music. What they share is a powerful fusion of sacred tradition, sonic architecture and personal expressiveness.The French organist and composer Eugène Gigout opens the programme with the Grand Choeur Dialogué. This festive work thrives on the interplay of different sound groups of the organ and unfolds a radiant, solemn character in its dialogic passages.The chorale from Charles-Marie Widor’s Symphonie Romane, Op. 73, leads us into a meditative world of sound. Inspired by the medieval Easter chorale ‘Haec dies’, Widor crafts a tranquil yet sublime musical vision in which tradition and the Romantic musical language meet.The programme concludes with Franz Liszt’s monumental Prelude and Fugue on B-A-C-H. From the famous musical motif that translates Johann Sebastian Bach’s name into notes, Liszt develops a work of great dramatic power and spiritual depth – an impressive homage to the great master of organ music.
