Public candle-making at the Youth Center and on the market square in Effretikon

Soon, a special magic will once again take hold of Effretikon: Candles will be made at the Youth Center and on Märtplatz. The warm scent of beeswax will fill the air and invite everyone to get creative.

The Soziokultur Illnau-Effretikon team invites you to this year’s candle-making event. From November 17 to December 6, 2026, candles will be made at the Effretikon Youth Center. Many school classes will participate and let their creativity run wild during school hours. The Youth Center is also opening its doors to the public.

Following the success of previous years, a tent will once again be set up on Märtplatz at the end of the candle-making event. Here, people will come together to design their own candles and enjoy each other’s company.

No prior experience is necessary to participate. The staff will help everyone bring their own creations to life. Anyone with special needs or accompanying someone who needs assistance is welcome to contact the socio-cultural team. Candle-making is accessible to everyone.

PUBLIC CANDLE-MAKING EVENT AT THE EFFRETIKON YOUTH CENTER

Candle-making at the Youth Center will take place on Wednesdays, November 18 and 25, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day. While candles are being made and carved in the foyer, the bistro invites you to take a cozy break. With a warm drink and music, you can enjoy the winter atmosphere even away from the candle-making room.

PUBLIC CANDLE-MAKING EVENT AT THE EFFRETIKON MARKET SQUARE

The candle-making event at the market square will conclude on the weekend of December 5 and 6, 2026. Everyone is invited to make a candle on Saturday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The tent offers plenty of space and ensures the event can take place regardless of the weather. Accessible restrooms are located in the basement of the Effi-Märt.

The Soziokultur team extends a warm welcome to everyone and looks forward to a peaceful get-together.
