Inleiding
The trail leads over a thickly forested mountain crest. Exceptional views of Lugano and the lake from the San Bernardo Chapel. The town is increasingly spreading up the surrounding hills. Lugano is the end of the Trans Swiss Trails - or the beginning.
Beschrijving
Probably the shortest stage of the Trans Swiss Trail leads from Tesserete to Comano. The parish church of San Stefano, the main attraction of the village, immediately catches the eye. Visible from afar is the Romanesque bell tower of a predecessor church, which rises up seven storeys from the centre of the present church facade. The lavish interior of the church with its Baroque choir is dominated by a Neoclassical altar, the elaborately ornamented choir stalls, some paintings and frescoes worth seeing, and the richly decorated side chapels.
The hiking trail starts at the main bus stop. It leads through a park to the Arena Sportivo swimming pool. This is followed by a short stretch of woodland and the residential neighbourhood of Vaglio, before entering the green beech forest along a lovely forest path. After a short climb, you reach one of the highlights of the route - the church of San Bernardo. The view from here is impressive. The city and lake of Lugano spread out before you, with the unmistakable San Salvatore peak towering up into the sky. To the northeast, the view extends deep into the Val Colla with the Denti della Vecchia rocks, whose pinnacles are even better visible from Tesserete.
From here you hike steeply downhill towards Comano. First on a gravel road, the last few minutes are finally completed on a paved road. For the unmarked section from Comano to Lugano, we recommend using public transport.

Win op voorhand inlichtingen in bij de plaatselijke informatiedienst over de toestand van het traject en de weersomstandigheden. Afhankelijk van het seizoen en de weersomstandigheden kan de route gesloten of onderbroken zijn.
