For nearly 25 years, the Dutch quintet has been pushing the boundaries of industrial rock with visceral creativity. After appearances at Glastonbury and Sziget, as well as tours alongside Biffy Clyro and Muse, they’re making a stop at the Usine à Gaz. After two years of silence, De Staat returns with “THE KING,” a new single carved like a block of concrete: six minutes of tribal percussion, massive keyboards, and razor-sharp guitars. No chorus, no compromises. “It’s not our goal to be catchy,” asserts singer Torre Florim. A haunting track about the eternal cycle of power—the rise, the conquest, the fall. The band’s seventh album is hot on its heels, accompanied by a show where industrial riffs, abrasive electronic sounds, and a mesmerizing stage presence promise an experience that feels as much like a ritual as it does a concert. What if Kurt Cobain and Ariana Grande had had a Pokémon together? You’d get something like Hiqpy: a quartet formed at the Amsterdam Conservatory, built to rock the stage with their grunge guitars and pop energy. Their album \*Slow Death Of A Good Girl\* (April 2026), produced by Grammy Award winner Danton Supple (Coldplay, U2, Elbow), tells the story of a “good girl” breaking free and finally learning to say no. A breakout act at Eurosonic Noorderslag even before they’d released anything, they played over forty festivals in 2024—including Into The Great Wide Open—and received unanimous praise from the Dutch press, who compared them to the Smashing Pumpkins, Wolf Alice, and the Pixies.
