Mao Fujita, whose reputation has grown and grown ever since he won the Clara Haskil International Piano Competition in Vevey aged just 19, has a musical personality that blends natural talent, sensitivity and masterful virtuosity. Alongside him, Renaud Capuçon, a leading European violinist with a stunning international career, also has deep roots in the region. He contributes to the region through his teaching commitment at the HEMU (Haute École de Musique) and his role as Artistic Director of the Lausanne Chamber Orchestra. Focusing on Beethoven, the two artists offer a carefully crafted and intense journey, driven by the passion, tenderness and soundscapes of his masterpieces. These are genuine biographical reflections, composed between the young Beethoven’s arrival like a thunderclap in Vienna and the pinnacle of his ‘Heroic’ period. This first concert of the cycle highlights Sonatas No. 1 and No. 3, with hints of Mozart and dedicated to his mentor Antonio Salieri, as well as Sonata No. 7, composed shortly after his legendary piano alter-ego, the Moonlight Sonata.
