Jura Bike
Overview
Intro
Delémont is like the vibrant capital of the Jura region, but as soon as the city centre is behind you, you find yourself in an expansive hilly region. The Jura Bike route emphasises this most particularly on the way between Delémont and St-Ursanne.
Описание
From Delémont the Jura Bike route leads up to the Les Rangiers chain. Near the pass with the same name, which connects Delémont with the Ajoie region, you plunge deep into the solitary Jura area. You pass Col de la Croix and then, with a fast downhill run, you enter the narrow valley of the Doubs river. It forms a winding border here between France and Switzerland. There are few other rivers that move so haphazardly. And this is how it got its name: in Latin “dubius” means indecisive.
The likes of us, however, are not indecisive in the least. We follow the banks of the Doubs, according to plan, to the picturesque village of St-Ursanne with its medieval buildings. The village is gem without a doubt, and a perfect day’s destination on the mountain bike route through the Jura.
