Relaxation and leisure activities from the Cerebral Foundation for people with disabilities

It’s important that people with a cerebral disability that affects their movement, and their families, are also able to get away from it all and take some time to relax. However, wheelchair users cannot travel without accessible means of transport, wheelchair-accessible accommodation and other special equipment for leisure activities. The Cerebral Foundation helps them by providing various relaxation and leisure activities, assistance or a contribution. The Cerebral Foundation is recognised and certified as a charitable organisation by the ZEWO Foundation (the Swiss certification body for charitable and donation-funded organisations). Its activities are mainly funded through donations and legacy bequests from private individuals and companies.

Dual Ski Bellwald and Sedrun
Families of children with disabilities should be able to enjoy winter sports, too. Thanks to the offer provided by the Cerebral Foundation, this has become a reality in Bellwald and Sedrun. The Cerebral Foundation has supported the development of infrastructure accessible to people with a disability, acquired dual ski bobs and made them available to ski instructors free of charge. Parents can hire these skis and take lessons in dual skiing.

Assisted holidays
The Cerebral Foundation’s assisted holidays project enables all members of the family to have a relaxing holiday away from home. Disabled family members are looked after on an hourly basis by trained professionals at the resort, giving parents the chance to do something on their own or with their other children.
