تم افتتاح حدائق عالم الحيوان في بازل المعروفة أيضاً بمودة بين أهالي وسكان بازل باسم زولي في عام 1874 وهي موطن لعدد كبير من الحيوانات الأصلية المحلية والغريبة.
حديقة حيوان بازل هي وجهة رحلة شعبية تستحق الزيارة في أي وقت من أوقات السنة. في أشهر الصيف تشكل الحديقة مكاناً مثالياً للتنزه في الهواء الطلق، في حين تضمن مساكن الحيوانات المتنوعة في أشهر الشتاء تواصلات وثيقة وشخصية مع تشكيلة واسعة من الحيوانات. أما إذا كنت ترغب باكتشاف عالم مخلوقات ما تحت الماء، فهناك مخلوقات لاكتشافها تحت الماء في هذه الحديقة. عرين الأسد وبيت القرد اللذان تم بناؤهما مؤخراً هما من مناطق الجذب التي تستحق الذكر على نحوٍ خاص.
