Malcantone, the gently rolling, densely grown hilly landscape that extends from Lake Lugano to Monte Lema, had for centuries only one main one staple: The chestnut. Nestled in the foothills of Mont Blanc is the Pays du Saint Bernard, the gateway to Italy. The legendary Hospice du Grand Saint Bernard and its dogs symbolise the welcome and human warmth perpetuated over centuries by the Canons of the Grand Saint Bernard.

Traveling from Lake Thun in a westerly direction, the Simmen Valley opens up. The pyramid-shaped Niesen and the Stockhorn preside over the imposing entrance to the valley. The hiking-mountain and vantage point beckon with an imposing panoramic view of 200 peaks.

Tschappina is the highest-lying community on the Heinzenberg. The area occupied by the Walser community stretches from the Glaspass (Glass Pass) to the Safien Valley and to the immediate vicinity of Safien Platz.

The diverse vacation region between Lake Walen and Sarganser Land in Eastern Switzerland gets its name from Johanna Spyri’s world famous Heidi story. Well-known destinations include the skiing and hiking regions of Flumserberg and Pizol as well as the thermal, wellness and golf oasis of Bad Ragaz.

Just a few kilometres from the well-known Ticino resorts of Locarno and Ascona are the unspoilt romantic valleys known as the Valli di Locarno. The most well-known are the Centovalli, the Onsernone, Maggia and Verzasca valleys.

The idyllic Zurich Oberland is not far from Zurich. In the heart of this hiking and cycling area lies not only the highest mountain in the Canton of Zurich, but also the highest waterfall.

The Jura Vaudois Nature Park extends from the summit of La Dôle to the medieval monastic town of Romainmôtier. To the north lies the Vallée de Joux at an altitude of 1,000m. Visitor programmes are offered by the park office and local tourism organisations.

The patricians of the old days knew why they built their stately homes right here: La Punt has a favorable strategic situation at the foot of the former trade route across the Albula pass. The Maggia Valley – a wonderful natural oasis north of Locarno. The turquoise blue Maggia with its rock formations, bathing areas and waterfalls offers you refreshment and photogenic locations. While hiking or biking, you will be amazed by the landscape and the rich cultural heritage.

The Engadin Samnaun Val Müstair holiday region – from the south-facing Val Müstair, and the Lower Engadin with its rich traditions and typical Engadin villages, to the Alpine village of Samnaun – features a blend of three cultures.

Against the stunning permanent backdrop of the Valais 4,000m peaks, the many leisure activities in the Aletsch Arena and excursions to the Aletsch Glacier or Goms will inspire you.

The four communities of Altnau, Münsterlingen, Langrickenbach and Güttingen belong to the family-friendly destination "Sonnenecke Bodensee Thurgau" (“Sun Corner Lake Constance Thurgau”). The region offers perfect conditions for families to enjoy themselves and feel at ease.

The serene, sunny high valley in the Goms region, in Upper Valais, is famous for its authentic villages with wooden houses and whitewashed churches. Obergoms is an attractive cross-country paradise in winter and a popular and far-flung hiking region in summer.

The Werdenberg region is situated in the St. Gallen Rhine Valley on Switzerland’s eastern border. It encompasses the administrative communes of Sennwald (Frümsen, Haag, Salez, Sax and Sennwald), Gams, Grabs, Buchs, Sevelen and Wartau (Azmoos, Trübbach, Weite, Oberschan and Malans) and borders on the Principality of Liechtenstein, Heidiland, Toggenburg and the St. Gallen Rhine Valley.

Axalp is a clearing at 1535 metres altitude above the resort of Brienz. It can be reached by post bus or car in 35 minutes from the village. Axalp is ideally located for hiking in summer and skiing in winter.
