Parrotspitze (4,432m a.s.l.) at a glance
The Parrotspitze, at 4,432 metres above sea level, can be found nestled in the Monte Rosa massif. The peak has fascinated many, including Friedrich Parrot, the German physicist, doctor and mountaineer who researched the Monte Rosa massif from 1814 to 1816, and after whom the Parrotspitze is named. The ascent is traditionally made over the western ridge from the Gnifetti Hut on the Italian side. But the ascent can also be made on the Swiss side from the Monte Rosa Hut. In this way, visitors cross the Grenz Glacier to the western ridge and from there cross the Piodejoch to reach the peak.
