Intro
The trail goes up from the picturesque Urnerboden to the Klausen Pass, which is famous for its classic car races. Over different little alps and various villages, the trail passes through the Schächental valley and then onwards to Altdorf.
Description
The highest point of the stage, the Klausen Pass, soon comes into view. From Urnerboden, the trail first goes alongside the Fätschbach river and then steep upwards to the pass. On the ascent, hikers will cross the pass road a number of times. Once at the top, take a break and recharge your batteries at Hotel Klausenpasshöhe, for example. Built in 1903, the house has been made ever more crooked by each year's snowfall. Fear not, the building is secure today and appeals with its quirky charm.
Far above the Schächental valley, hikers continue along the panorama trail on this stage and enjoy views of the impressive mountain landscapes. Soon begins the descent to the valley, crossing the road again in Spiringen. Those who wish can shorten this section by taking the bus to the destination of Altdorf, giving your feet and knees a welcome rest.
