Intro
In a gentle descent, the route follows the wild stream La Torneresse for several kilometres until the valley narrows at the Gorges du Pissot. This is where the scenery unfolds to reveal views of the wide valley of the Pays-d’Enhaut. After Châteaux-d’Oex, the trail descends to Rossinière.
Description
The 18th stage begins in L’Etivaz at the edge of the pass road to the Col des Mosses and leads out of the village, deep into wild and overgrown forests. Bright green moss covers stones and branches, while the crystal clear waters of the Torneresse stream gurgle nearby.
Above Le Moulin, views open up of Château-d’Œx. Here, hikers will find some typical Swiss comfort food to satisfy their hunger. The stage destination is located a little above the railway station, and therefore offers the chance to see the largest inhabitable wooden house in Switzerland with only a slight detour. It was built in 1752 and has great charm, with a floor area of around 500 m², 113 windows and beautifully adorned façades. It is well worth tackling a short ascent to have a look at Rossinière by the picturesque Lac du Vernex reservoir. The B&B Chalet La Colline not only boasts a unique location and views, but also offers friendly, tranquil and relaxing lodgings.
