Albinen is situated in the south-west of Switzerland, in the Rhône Valley in Valais. The mountain village is a popular travel destination thanks to its unique location in the
Pfyn-Finges Nature Park as well as its proximity to the thermal spa resort of
Leukerbad and the
Matterhorn.

The Valais mountains and Leukerbad
Albinen is the perfect starting point for summer and winter activities in the Valais mountains. A number of different cable cars will take you partway to the
Torrenthorn and to the
Gemmi Pass. Have fun
hiking or
cycling, or on the ski slopes or cross-country ski trails. The oldest via ferrata in Switzerland can also be found here, exclusively for those with a head for heights: on the former trade route between Albinen and
Leukerbad, you’ll climb 100 metres in altitude over eight wooden ladders. Time for relaxation? In Leukerbad, beautiful
thermal baths are waiting to welcome you.

Albinen is known for its mountain herbs and medicinal plants. Discover its flora on a tour of the Albinen medicinal herb garden. On the
“Egguweg” trail, you’ll learn interesting facts about the healing powers of plants as well as Valais culture as part of a 17-stop tour. You’ll be amazed at how many of the local plants here are edible.

Visit
Leuk along with its landmark, the medieval
castle with a modern glass dome. Hike through the
winegrowing villages of Varen and Salgesch, on a trail that also includes the imposing Raspille waterfall. From the Rhône Valley, within one hour you can reach Switzerland’s landmark, the
Matterhorn. And the
Bernese Oberland is also within easy reach, through the nearby Lötschberg tunnel.
