The Pfyn-Finges Nature Park is home to an amazing variety of landscapes, natural habitats and cultural distinctiveness. The change from glacier to vineyard, wetland to rocky steppe, Alpine hut to castle and German to French makes this nature park in Central Valais singularly attractive.

With a length of 375 kilometers, the Rhine is the longest river in Switzerland. Although the Rhine flows far to the east of the country, thanks to mighty tributaries it drains 80 per cent of Switzerland’s surface. Now it’s time to leave the water for a short while, because at Neuhausen the mightily grown river plunges at the Rhine Falls into the depth. In the summer about 700 cubic meters of water gush downwards per second, the record quantity, however, is twice as high. The fearless climb under the Rhine Falls into one of the boats that travel very close to the roaring waters.

Nestled between the mighty Säntis massif and the seven Churfirsten peaks, the resorts of Alt St. Johann, Unterwasser and Wildhaus are among the highest-lying municipalities in Toggenburg. Eastern Switzerland's largest winter sports area is just one hour from the airport and Zurich.

Bellelay, which was founded by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Basel in 1140, has a rich religious past associated with the Norbertine religious order. Bellelay Abbey is the source of Tête de Moine PDO, a tasty cheese that is scraped into rosettes with a girolle cheese curler.

The family-friendly Braunwald, Elm and Martinsloch, the picturesque Klöntal Lake (Klöntalersee): In Glarnerland there is much to be discovered. This beautiful (and fairly unknown) part of the world can be reached in less than an hour from Zürich.

San Bernardino – the alpine holiday resort below Piz Uccello and in the middle of forests and moors. On a tour to Lake Doss or to the top of the pass, you will be amazed at the beauty of this original mountain landscape. The big plus is the year-round outdoor activities.

The summit ridge of the Alphubel looks more like a hill than a mountain peak. The ascent of this four-thousand-metre peak in the Allalin group is challenging and requires an excellent level of fitness.

For those who are looking for peace and quiet, Madulain is the place to go. The smallest commune in the upper Engadine has no more than 200 inhabitants, but the special charm of its typical Engadine houses and cultivated Rhaeto-Romanic culture is all the more convincing.

Nestled between the rivers Aare and Rhine, are the rolling hills of the Aargau Jura. A multifaceted stepped landscape of valleys, Jurassic plateau and mountains is the largest vacation region between Basel and Zürich.

The holiday resort of Disentis, or Mustér as it is called in Romansch, lies at an altitude of 1,130m above sea level. The most famous attraction in Disentis is its Benedictine monastery, founded in the year 720.

Solothurn is regarded as the finest Baroque town in Switzerland, where Italian grandeur is combined with French charm and German practicality. The so-called «ambassador’s town» is at the southern end of the Jura by the River Aare, about 30 km east of Biel/Bienne.

At the centre of Mellingen is a medieval old town, laid out like an isosceles triangle along the left bank of the River Reuss and split in the middle by a short main alleyway. The town walls were demolished in the 18th century.

Lenzerheide is located in the heart of Graubünden and is one of the most versatile holiday regions in Switzerland. The Heidsee, the Arosa Lenzerheide ski area, the Bike Kingdom and impressive peaks such as the Parpaner Rothorn await you.

Next to the Eiger and the Mönch, in the Bernese Alps, the Jungfrau towers up into the sky. As imposing as the mountain itself is, the view while climbing it is just as impressive.

The serene, sunny high valley in the Goms region, in Upper Valais, is famous for its authentic villages with wooden houses and whitewashed churches. Goms is an attractive cross-country paradise in winter and a popular and far-flung hiking region in summer.

The rolling landscape, the mild climate and a plethora of water sport and other leisure activities are responsible for attracting many holidaymakers and day trippers to Lake Constance, especially in the summer months.

The view from the Blausee to the nearby Valais four-thousand-metre peaks (Weisshorn, Matterhorn and Dom) is breathtaking!

The wide embankments on Lake Geneva, the Olympic Museum, the widely diverse urban quarters and the parklands: Lausanne is full of joie de vivre. Alongside Notre Dame Cathedral, the metro is a key city landmark. Also, thanks to the hillside location, you can see the lake wherever you go.

Axalp is a clearing at 1535 metres altitude above the resort of Brienz. It can be reached by post bus or car in 35 minutes from the village. Axalp is ideally located for hiking in summer and skiing in winter.

Sattel-Hochstuckli is in the foothills of the Alps in Schwyz, in the heart of Central Switzerland. Here you’ll find the first cable-car in the world to have revolving panoramic gondolas to take passengers up to the family mountain.

Nearly 6,000 years ago people first began to settle in the Lake Constance region. Remains of this impressive settlement have been found by Lake Nussbaumen near Hüttwilen.

The 2998-meter Piz Beverin, located in the middle of Beverin Nature Park, dominates the park’s scenery. Majestic, serene, frugal, persevering and peaceful – these are the characteristics defining this habitat of the capricorn (Rhaeto-Romanic for ibex). The park covers 412 square kilometres from Thusis to Schams and includes large parts of the Safien Valley.

Close to the capital of the canton, Schwyz, and the place of pilgrimage Einsiedeln, in an idyllic, wide open alpine foothill landscape at 900 to 2200 metres, lie the holiday and sports destination of Hoch-Ybrig and the sunny villages of Ober- and Unteriberg.
