Intro

The trail leads over two rises to the scenic Trübsee lake at the foot of the Titlis and on over the Joch Pass into the Bernese Oberland. The destination is the Engstlenalp, an idyllic power spot with a lake, a nostalgic hotel and thousands of Alpine roses.

Description

Before reaching the Engstlenalp, you must conquer the Joch Pass. The ascent up alongside the chair lift is rewarded with breathtaking views of the Bernese Alps and the turquoise blue Engstlenalpsee lake, in which the reflection of the mountain panorama can be seen. As the lake is not very deep, it warms enough for a swim in summer. From there, head a little downhill to Hotel Engstlenalp, which is not unlike Pippi Longstocking’s house with its turquoise windowsills and pink façade.

Staying overnight here is highly recommended, as it is a chance to spend the evening by the lake. People fishing, barbecuing and swimming can all be found on its shores. With a little luck, you will also see a breathtaking sunset casting a fire-red glow on the Alpine massif. An unforgettable spectacle of nature that is virtually impossible to capture in a photograph.
