This is Switzerland’s first boutique hostel. The former grain store has been cleverly remodelled to create a budget-friendly hostel with the most modern 2 to 4-bed rooms. Special 4-bed rooms for women only, double rooms with ensuite bathrooms. Meeting room for up to 25 people. Breakfast in the "Living Room" lounge, local products.

Life can be both sweet and bitter, just like the cocoa beans that used to be stored here in Silo over a hundred years ago. Now people stay here. Now you are staying here. In 1912, the Basler Lagerhausgesellschaft opened Silo. Today, it houses the Silo Design & Boutique Hostel with a living room for the hostel guests and ateliers used by self-employed professionals and small businesses.10 double rooms with private bathrooms and 10 four-bed dorms offer guests hostel living at a high level. Breakfast consists of fresh local delicacies and is included in the room rate. See you soon at Silo - the doors are open for you!

The former grain silo is one of the most striking industrial buildings in Basel. The conversion to a designer hostel was the work of renowned architectural firm Harry Gugger Studio. The futuristic-looking architecture with its ultra-modern and cheeky interiors is an experience in a class of its own: Sleeping compartments, concrete walls and unexpected views combine to make you feel like you're living in art. This innovative business is recognised as a flagship in the Basel hotel industry. The company is managed by the Krafft Group from Basel.

The Silo design und Boutique Hostel is located in the up-and-coming Erlenmatt Ost district, within walking distance of the Badischer Bahnhof and the Basel Exhibition Centre. Directly in front of the hostel is the bus stop Signalstrasse, which is served by bus number 46.

In the immediate vicinity are also the tram stop Musical Theater (tram 14) and the bus stop Erlenmatt (bus 30) as well as the Badische Bahnhof (tram 2 & 6, bus 30 & 36 and the S-Bahn). From EuroAirport, take bus number 50 to Basel SBB and then bus number 30 to Erlenmatt.
