The landmark of Central Switzerland, and Lucerne's 'own' peak: Mount Pilatus. The Golden Tour by steamer, red rack-and-pinion railway and back via cable railways is the classic round trip.
One excursion with five means of transport! Sail from Lucerne to Alpnachstad on the 'Unterwalden' steamship or on a motor vessel. Then comes the world's steepest rack-and-pinion railway up to Pilatus Kulm (2073 m a.s.l.). The 'Locher system' toothed rack and the special track switch at the mountain station are unique.
Enjoy the view of the lake, the mountains, and the city of Lucerne. Take a walk through the rock gallery, or hike to the Tomlishorn where you can savor a delicious snack in the restaurant. A spectacular ride by aerial cable car «Dragon Ride» and panorama gondola down to Kriens concludes this tour. Return to Lucerne by bus.
