Intro
The skiing and hiking areas in Rougemont are known for their gentle slopes, among other things. Not so the La Videmanette mountain surrounding the “le Rubi” limestone stack. This a a genuine alpine area.
The mountain has three peaks and straddles the area between Bern and Vaud. At 2,285m above sea level, the highest of these peaks is Le Rubi. The three eye-catching peaks reach to the sky as characteristic narrow limestone formations.
Two cable cars carry passengers up the mountain. One departs from Rougemont in Pays-d’Enhaut and runs in the gap between two of the peaks. The other is the connection for the Saanen-Gstaad ski area. A mountain restaurant with fabulous sun terrace provides the perfect place to linger.
