Overview
Intro
High above Adelboden, there are downhill sledge runs for every level of expertise. The run from the Tschentenalp mountain station to Weng is quite easy. It starts out along the ridge leading to the Tschentenegg huts and then makes several hairpin bends across open terrain, heading towards Tschentenwald forest.
Description
The best views across the Engstligen Valley with the Lohner and Wildstrubel massifs, as far as the Wildhorn peak. To the north-west: the inhospitable Gsür mountain with its deep furrows. Before descending again on the sledge run, you should pause to enjoy the vista of mountain summits on the Tschentenalp pasture at the start of the route. Well over 3 kilometers long, the sledge run from Adelboden's "own" mountain down to Weng is one of the easy routes in the Adelboden Sledge Park.
The run starts out along the ridge, across open terrain. You are accompanied by skiers – and a fantastic view towards Frutigen. The route branches off to the north near the Tschentenegg huts, and then descends towards Tschentenwald forest in several hairpin bends. You reach your destination at the edge of the forest, and the chairlift takes sledgers back up to Tschentenalp.
Special feature: as well as the various downhill routes, you are spoilt for choice here as regards your mode of downhill travel. You can choose a traditional ski-sled (or "Skigibel"), a stylish Snooc, a speedy Airboard – or perhaps you'd prefer a classic Davos sledge? The range of rental equipment offers the right conveyance for everyone. Nor will you go short of food and drink on the mountain: the cosy restaurant near the mountain station boasts a superb sun terrace with views of Adelboden and the mountain world, and zesty drinks are also served in the Après Ski Bar next door.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
