Похожий на коробку дом стоит на подобии опор или ног. Обычно дом ассоциируется с защищенностью и безопасностью, однако при взгляде на строение Луизы Буржуа возникает скорее чувство нестабильности, неуверенности и стесненности – последнее благодаря узкому портретному формату. Яркие образы во многих работах французской художницы отсылают к душевным травмам, полученным ею в детстве.
