7 thematic areas span the arc from today's animals of eastern Switzerland to minerals to fossils and 3.5 billion years of geological history. On 2000 square meters, the permanent exhibition presents most of the objects without glass in front of them. In addition, there are around 3 special exhibitions and a museum park every year.

Marvel at the landscape relief (30 minutes)
You are standing in front of the largest landscape relief in Switzerland. The cantons of St.Gallen and Appenzell spread out over 37 square metres, with 100,000 houses and 6 kilometres of road. If you point your mobile phone at the relief, the region awakens in augmented reality and shows you the highlights of the cantons depicted.
- Good to know: A digital guide will lead you through the house in 3 languages.
Meet wild animals (30 minutes)
In an abstracted forest, your children meet bear, wolf and lynx at eye level. Together you will hear a wolf calling and feel what a bearskin feels like. In the replica cave, the skeleton of a cave bear that became extinct 20,000 years ago awaits.
- Good to know: Children between the ages of 4 and 8 solve puzzles on the thematic children's trail.
- Tip: The bear is the heraldic animal of the city of St.Gallen, look for it in the old town.
Walking through the history of the earth (30 minutes)
Like on a catwalk, witnesses of the earth's history are lined up next to each other:? From 3.5-billion-year-old blue-green algae to moose from the Ice Age. The heaviest piece is the original skeleton of a duckbill dinosaur, which weighs around 10 tons with its rock.
- Good to know: On Wednesday, the museum remains open until 8 p.m.
